Course Description

Due to Covid 19 restrictions this course will now be delivered virtually in two workshops.

• Workshop 1 Introduction to Sexuality Awareness 10am to 12pm
• Workshop 2 Introduction to Trans Awareness 1pm to 3pm

The course will be delivered by professionals from The Proud Trust and will encourage practitioners and managers to be become more LGBT+ inclusive (lesbian, gay, bisexual, Trans, plus other related identities).   The course will provide real life examples of the experiences of LGBT plus young people and those from LGBT plus families.

Please note that applications will be considered to ensure a multi agency attendance and not on a first come basis.  You will need to attend both workshops to get the training certificate.

Aims

• This course is aimed at, and is appropriate for, all professionals working with young people, including (but not limited to), secondary school teachers and staff, college staff, youth workers, healthcare professionals, social workers and uniformed services.

Learning Outcomes

• Explore current appropriate terminology across a range of identities.
• Develop skills, tools and knowledge to confidently and consistently recognise and challenge LGBT phobic language and behaviours.
• Explore the legal, Ofsted and moral standpoints on doing LGBT plus inclusion work.
• Identify the needs of young people who are transitioning into adulthood and who maybe exploring sexual relationships and identity.
• Identify and discuss a range of age-appropriate and recommended resources for creating LGBT plus inclusive environments and organisations.
• Complete a Manchester Safeguarding Partnership Action Plan.
